Mac ransomware

The era when Macs were considered bullet-proof against viruses is long gone.

A recent discovery reports that Ransomware is now targeting the Mac operating system. This new breed, named ThiefQuest or EvilQuest, is an intelligent piece of software that has Spyware and Malware capabilities, making it very dangerous.

How does anyone get it in the first place? By downloading pirated software, it seems. We at Alt Fn Ctrl have warned time and again: never download pirated software or videos. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. We all pay for it one way or another, be it through data collection, watching ads, or, in this case, at the expense of computer malfunction and falling victim to a ransom.

If you think your computer may be infected, run a scan using Malwarebytes. A more permanent solution is to have an end-point antivirus.
