Email | Gmail (free) vs Private (paid)
How many times have you been handed a business card or seen an advert that has a public email address such as @gmail.com?
Not only does make your business look unprofessional, it doesn’t particularly inspire confidence. Remember folks, it’s your business. Professionalism, confidence, and integrity are core qualifications that should be portrayed to potential customers. So take care of your business.
There is also the issue of privacy. Although we cannot say for sure if free email hosts such as Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, ProtonMail, or the one provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), sell off our shopping habits or other personal information obtained in our mailbox, it is without a doubt our mailbox is combed through under a magnifying glass. Wonder how an ad or a spam mail related to “mouse trap”, something you googled just minutes ago, mysteriously and conveniently wound up on your computer screen or mailbox? No such thing as a free lunch. And in this case, it’s at the expense of your privacy.
A private email address like @yourcompanyname.com just looks more proper. And it costs less than a monthly mobile phone bill. What’s a few dollars if you can keep a potential customer who could possibly make you more? Don’t give them a reason to take their business to a competitor. Be and look professional.
